My name is Arron and some of you might recognize me as the founder of idevSpot, where we innovate and develop unique website applications.

A long time ago, before the start of idevSpot, I was seeking a better way to make a career for myself, I hated the idea of trading my valuable time for money working for someone else so that they could profit from my creativity and energy.

A long time computer hacker (no, not in the outlaw sense of the word) I started looking for a way to launch my own independant business online. I understood that some people sold products online, but I didn't have any products to sell. I looked into acquiring products to resale, but found that after the expense of purchasing inventory, shipping, handling, returns and refunds, not to mention the start up costs of acquiring initial inventory, I was venturing into some risky (and highly competitive) business.

An idea struck me then which I will share with you now, more like a vaugue concept that didn't really have shape or form, I knew that computers and the Internet run on automated systems, structure and programming, even though at times it may seem like your computer has a personality (often that of a 2 year old brat) this is not actually the case.

I began to wonder if there might be a way to create a fully automated system that earned me money online.

This is where the virtue of the digital product come into play.

Imagine a product that has no cost to stock and exists in unlimited supply, it can (with the right software) be sold AND delivered to the customer INSTANTLY and automatically. So that even while you are sleeping or on vacation, your website is still making sales and your customers are being sent the digital items that they have purchased.

In combination with the idea behind the digital product, it is now possible to create a system that would in essence, act like a virtual money tree. My first ever digital product was, actually a piece of software written to be installed on a website, that's purpose was to help sell digital products (to automate the digital download delivery process). This was my first digital product and it was also for selling digital products, which I always found kind of funny. This was the first version of what is now idevSpot's idev-DigiVendor app.

But you don't have to be a software developer to sell digital products, the more I looked into digital products, the more diverse types of digital products I found existed. Heck, some digital products don't even exist yet, but COULD, if YOU made them. My mother, for example... knows very little about computers or Internet business, but she is a talented stained glass artist who has designed a number of stained glass patterns. These are designs that she created on the computer that she would print off to make her stained glass art pieces.

Now, if she is able to print these stained glass patterns off her computer, then it stands to reason, that other people could also, if they had a copy of her stained glass pattern image on their computer. If this doesn't sound like a digital product idea to you, then re-read this article!

Ideas for digital products that you can create & sell on your website:

1. eBooks / How to Guides (do you have information to offer on any topic? put it in an eBook and sell it!)
2. Software / Scripts / Coding (if you are tech savvy, you can sell your software / web scripts etc)
3. Music / Audio (if you are a musician, or good with sound, you can sell your own music, loops, audio sound effects and so on)
4. Design / Logo / Icons and Website Templates, Themes for popular systems like Wordpress & Joomla, 3D models for Lightwave, Maya or 3DStudio Max
5. CAD Designs, stock blueprints
6. Patterns, craft patterns such as quilting and stained glass
7. Images, Stock Photography or Texture Maps that are used by 3D artists.
8. Video, A yoga instructional video for people with lower back pain, I don't know, but Video is digital, put your thinking cap on :)

This is just off the top of my head, I will come back and add to this list when other idea come to mind, but already as you can see, there are a LOT of options.
